The 41st new 35-ton patrol boat of the Coast Guard Administration Fleet Branch, PP-3531, was built by CTBC Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. At 08:00 this morning (3rd), the boat was officially taken over by the squad leader Xie Jingjia. It departed from Kaohsiung Port and returned to Houbihu of the 14th (Hengchun) Coast Guard Squadron. After returning to port, a blessing ceremony was immediately held to symbolize that the boat has officially become a new force of the squadron. The entire process was smooth and successful.
The 35-ton patrol boat is a key project in the “Forward-Looking Development Plan for Coast Guard Vessels.” This type of boat is 22.35 meters long, 5.12 meters wide, and has a draft of 1 meter. It features a waterjet propulsion system, giving it advantages such as high speed, shallow draft, and high maneuverability. After sea trials, it has been proven to reach a maximum speed of 45 knots and a range of approximately 600 nautical miles, enabling rapid deployment to manage various maritime situations. Furthermore, the boat is equipped with a high-pressure water cannon with a maximum range of 60 meters, effectively deterring intruding vessels and supporting firefighting operations, further enhancing law enforcement capabilities, emergency rescue, and public service quality.
The waters off Pingtung, under its jurisdiction, are rich in fishery resources and are a popular spot for recreational activities. The 14th (Hengchun) Coast Guard Squadron will continue to dedicate itself to protecting the safety of the waters off southern Taiwan, adhering to the core principle of “time is life, speed is hope.” If the public needs assistance at sea, please call the “118” Coast Guard service hotline; Coast Guard personnel will provide prompt assistance.
