HMNZS Te Mana Returns From Asia-Pacific Engagement

November 9, 2018 – Families and friends crammed the wharf at Devonport Naval Base this morning to welcome back the 176 crewmembers of the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) frigate HMNZS Te Mana, who returned from a five-month engagement across the Asia-Pacific region. NZDF to provide security support at APEC 2018 in PNG

November 6, 2018 – New Zealand is deploying New Zealand Defence Force assets to Papua New Guinea to assist with security at the APEC Leaders’ Week this month. New Zealand is sending the Offshore Patrol Vessel HMNZS Otago with about 75 crew to assist with maritime security, a P-3 Orion detachment with 20 personnel to provide aerial surveillance, and up to 30 Special Operation Forces personnel to provide support to Papua New Guinea security forces on the ground in Port Moresby. Strategic Defence Policy Statement 2018 Launched

Minister of Defence Ron Mark has today announced the release of the Review of Defence Procurement Policies and Practices for Major Capability Projects.
