August 20, 2019 – USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and the “Easyriders” of HSM-37 Detachment returned to their homeport of Pearl Harbor following a successful deployment to the 3rd and 4th Fleet areas of operations, Aug. 19. USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112), along with a P-8 Poseidon maritime-surveillance aircraft assigned to the “Pelicans” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 45, and staff from Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, and Commander, Task Force 70 participated in the Australian naval exercise Kakadu, Sept. 6-13. Held biennially, Kakadu is the Royal Australian navy’s premier exercise and provides an opportunity for regional nations to participate in multinational maritime activities. Michael Murphy Begins Joint Patrols in Oceanic Region

USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and the U.S. Coast Guard began joint maritime security patrols designed to reduce and eliminate illegal fishing in the Western Pacific, March 26. The guided-missile destroyer and embarked Coast Guard personnel began a mission called the Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI), a U.S. Defense Department program aimed to suppress illicit activities on the high seas. USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and French frigate FS Vendemiaire conducted a passing exercise (PASSEX), Jan. 29. During the PASSEX the ships operated in close proximity to one another. USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) departed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on Jan. 15, for a regularly scheduled deployment to the Western Pacific with the Carl Vinson Strike Group.  Michael Murphy deployed with a crew of approximately 320 Sailors and a detachment of MH-60R helicopters from Helicopter Maritime Squadron (HSM) 37, the “Easyriders,” based out of Kaneohe Bay.
