January 23, 2019 – AECOM, a premier, fully integrated infrastructure firm, and AWE plc. have signed a contract naming AECOM as the delivery partner to AWE for its Nuclear Capability project, a key component of the U.K. government’s nuclear deterrence program. Submarine skills for the future: £25m submarine academy opens in Barrow-in-Furness

December 6, 2018 – The Academy for Skills and Knowledge, at BAE Systems’ Submarines site in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, was officially opened today by the Secretary of State for Defence, Gavin Williamson. The state of the-art £25m training academy covers 89,340 sq. ft. and was built to develop the world-class engineering skills required to design, build and deliver complex submarine programs to the Royal Navy.
