Coast Guard Cutter Munro conducts its first operation near Channel Islands

Coast Guard Cutter Munro (WMSL-755) patrolled near Channel Islands in an interagency operation designed to enforce maritime laws that protect living marine resources and improve safety at sea. Coast Guard medevacs 64-year-old man from Naval Facility on San Nicolas Island

The Coast Guard medevaced a 64-year-old man from the naval facility on San Nicolas Island, Wednesday afternoon.  At approximately 2:00p.m., San Nicolas Island Naval Facility personnel contacted Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders reporting a 64-year-old contractor was experiencing stroke-like symptoms. After consulting with the duty flight surgeon, Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders dispatched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Forward Operating Base Point Mugu to assist.  The aircrew arrived on scene and transported the man to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Ventura County.
