Units of the Southern Patrol Division (DVPU) carried out naval training and coastal reconnaissance in the waters of the Beagle Channel. The fast boat ARA “Indómita” and the patrol boats ARA “Baradero” and ARA “Concepción del Uruguay” participated.
The units set sail from the Comodoro de Marina Augusto Lasserre military dock at the Ushuaia Naval Base and began their operations with a reconnaissance of the area. First, they headed west, towards the waters of Tierra del Fuego National Park, crossed the Chico Pass and reached milestone XXVI. Then, they sailed towards the Lapataia Bay area, where the fast boat ARA “Indómita” operated in restricted waters, while the patrol boats ARA “Baradero” and ARA “Concepción del Uruguay” moored in Puerto Arias.
They then headed towards the Cucharita Bay dock, having previously sailed alongside Ensenada Bay and Redonda Island. After completing the exercise in the waters of the National Park, the units continued eastwards, where the patrol boats moored at the Punta Remolinos dock while the speedboat moored at its buoy.
Throughout the navigation, man overboard exercises, steering from secondary stations, evolutionary maneuvers, mooring at sea (tying one ship to another), recognition of waiting positions, tactical formations and transfer of personnel were carried out.
The main objective of the training was to instruct and train the recently graduated Midshipmen as well as the crew of the ships, in compliance with the plans in force. In this way, the knowledge and skills of the crews are strengthened so that they can perform safely and efficiently.
