The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) are conducting the 22nd edition of Exercise Singaroo – a bilateral maritime exercise between both navies. Held from 28 to 30 October 2024 at RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base, this year’s exercise focuses on a series of shore-based exercises and professional exchanges, including simulator training for conventional warfare and damage control. The exercise involves personnel from the RSN’s Victory-class Missile Corvette RSS Vigour and Formidable-class frigate RSS Stalwart, and the RAN’s Anzac-class frigate HMAS Stuart.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Commanding Officer RSS Vigour, Major Lim Guan Hong highlighted the value of the exercise in strengthening cooperation, warfare fundamentals and professionalism between both navies. He said, “Exercise Singaroo is an important bilateral exercise which allows us to carry out high-end training across different domains, thereby enhancing interoperability and strengthening the friendship between both navies.”

Exercise Singaroo first began in 1995, and the exercise continues to underscore the strong and multi-faceted defence ties between Singapore and Australia. Beyond bilateral and multilateral exercises, both armed forces also interact frequently through high-level visits, regular dialogues, professional exchanges and the cross-attendance of courses.
