The Armed Forces follow Russian warships through Danish waters when Russian vessels sail through the Danish belts on their way to Naval Day in St. Petersburg.
In the near future, more warships and submarines are expected to cross the Sound and the Great Belt to participate in the Russian “Navy Day” in St. Petersburg on 28 July.
It is not uncommon for Russian ships to sail through Danish waters, and especially around “Navy Day”, there is traditionally an increased concentration of Russian ships sailing through the Great Belt and the Sound on their way to St. Petersburg.
The Navy keeps an eye on the ship traffic around Denmark around the clock and thus also with the Russian ships during their passage through Danish territory.
