The Russian Defense Ministry announced July 30th the start of large-scale exercises of the Navy, they will be held in the area of responsibility of the Northern, Pacific, Baltic fleets and the Caspian Flotilla.
The maneuvers are planned, practical firing exercises will be carried out, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
“Associations and formations of the Russian Navy have begun conducting planned exercises in the operational zones of the Northern, Pacific and Baltic fleets, as well as in the area of responsibility of the Caspian Flotilla,” the report says.
“About 300 surface ships and boats, submarines and support vessels, up to 50 aircraft, more than 200 units of military and special equipment, over 20,000 military personnel and civilian personnel of units and formations are involved in combat training activities,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“The main goal during the exercises is to check the actions of the military command and control bodies of the Navy at all levels, as well as the readiness of the crews of ships, naval aviation units and coastal troops of the Russian Navy to perform tasks as intended,” the ministry said.
According to the military, within a few days, the crews of ships, naval aviation and coastal forces units of the Northern, Pacific, Baltic fleets and the Caspian flotilla will perform over 300 combat exercises with the practical use of weapons.
In particular, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, anti-aircraft missile firing, artillery firing at sea and air training targets, combat exercises to set passive interference to withdraw forces from the blow of a conditional enemy, as well as the use of anti-submarine weapons of surface ships and naval aviation are provided.
