On August 24, ROU 10 Huracan (Hurricane) was been successfully boarded on a transport vessel in Masan Port, South Korea to begin its journey towards our country.

The ROU 10 Huracan, which was donated by the Navy of that country, has completed its routine stage on dry dock, as well as a process of modernization and internal conditioning at Chinhae Naval Base facilities.

This Unit is a vital component to the National Navy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its operational capacity and fulfill its mission of maritime defense and security.

The ship’s boarding in the port of Masan marks the beginning of the final phase of its move to Uruguay, where it will formally integrate into the fleet of the National Navy. The ferry is expected to take about six weeks, depending on weather and maritime conditions.

Future missions this new platform will have include coastal surveillance, rescue operations, protection of human life at sea and our maritime resources.

The National Navy, in conjunction with the national government, continues to work on modernizing its fleet to ensure the protection of national interests at sea.

The incorporation of the ROU 10 Huracan is a testimony to the Navy’s commitment to the defense of the country and the safety of our waters.
