A PLA naval fleet, which had just completed the “Peace Unity-2024” joint exercise, made a technical stop on Friday at Cam Ranh Port, Vietnam, for three days of resupply, according to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy.
At around 6 am on Friday, Vietnamese Navy frigate 016-Quang Trung greeted the Chinese naval fleet 30 nautical miles east of Cam Ranh Port to guide them into port. By around 10 am, the fleet slowly docked at the Cam Ranh Port.
Around 120 people, including the Chinese defense attaché to Vietnam, the deputy consul general of the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, consulate staff, Vietnamese naval officers, and representatives from the Chinese community, were present at the dock to welcome the fleet.
A welcome ceremony was held at the dock, with the crowd waving the national flags of China and Vietnam to greet the fleet. The crew, dressed in uniforms, were lined up on the deck in formation, waving to the welcoming crowd.
After dock, Vietnamese personnel presented flowers to the fleet commander. Following the welcome ceremony, attendees boarded the amphibious dock landing ship Wuzhishan for a tour.
During their stay, the fleet commander will make courtesy visits to local officials and Vietnamese navy officers. The fleet’s officers and crew will also engage in professional exchanges, joint drills, cultural and sports activities with their Vietnamese counterparts, and visit the Vietnamese Navy frigate 016-Quang Trung. The amphibious dock landing ship Qilianshan and the guided-missile destroyer Hefei will also be open for visit.
