Security cooperation between Panama and the United States continues to be consolidated with the delivery of two vessels and technological equipment to the National Air and Naval Service, as part of a donation valued at approximately $2 million.
The resources delivered will strengthen the institution’s operational capabilities in strategic areas such as surveillance, monitoring, maritime patrol and intelligence, contributing to a more effective response to threats that affect regional security.
The incorporation of these means represents a significant advance in the process of institutional modernization of the Naval Air Force, optimizing maritime, air and security operations. These new capabilities will reinforce the mission of protecting the interests of the Panamanian State, safeguarding maritime spaces under national jurisdiction and combating transnational illicit activities.
This delivery ceremony was held at the facilities of the Second Lieutenant Rigoberto Castillo Naval Shipyard in Isla Perico, Panama City, and was attended by the Deputy Minister of Public Security, Luis Felipe Icaza, the U.S. Ambassador to Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera; and the Naval Air Commander Luis A. De Gracia and the Director General, who highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation for the strengthening of security and the development of institutional capacities.
