The European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR), within the scope of Operation ATALANTA, commanded by Commodore João Monteiro da Silva, of the Portuguese Navy, participated last week in the exercise USALAMA BAHARINI II, in Mombasa, Kenya.
USALAMA BAHARINI II, whose name means “Safety at Sea” in Swahili, brought together the European force and Kenyan entities to jointly train and strengthen the capacity to deter and combat piracy, prevent armed robberies, and disrupt illicit trafficking in the region.
Participating in this exercise demonstrated the importance of international cooperation and interoperability of the different actors, contributing to greater maritime security and regional stability.
