Throughout the mission, the submarine did not participate in Operation BRILLIANT SHIELD, exercise DYNAMIC MONGOOSE 26 and activities in support of Fleet Operational Standards and Training (FOST). He also contributed to the Submarine Commanders Course, which will ensure the succession plan in command of the Trident Class and Subsurface Squadron submarines.
In his speech, Admiral CEMA highlighted that the submarine’s participation in the mission “represented a direct contribution to the surveillance and security of key areas of the Euro-Atlantic space, reinforcing the allied presence in an essential maritime area, of growing strategic importance, where competition between international actors is increasingly evident and where NATO has been strengthening its commitment.”
The Trident submarine, which left the Lisbon Naval Base on April 14, was on mission for almost 1,900 hours, of which 1,530 hours were at sea, which corresponds to a considerable navigation rate of over 80%.
The garrison of the NRP Trident is composed of 38 military personnel and is commanded by Commander Macedo da Silva.
