The frigate Bartolomeu Dias is participating in the Mediterranean Strike 25 exercise, off the Italian coast, as part of the escort group of the Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour and operating together with the escort group of the British aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, within the scope of the European Carrier Group Interoperability Initiative.
This multinational exercise brings together forces from several NATO member countries, including Portugal, the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States of America, Canada, France, Norway and Turkey, among others. Its main objective is to increase the training and response of the participating units, in the face of the presence of air and asymmetric threats, and to certify the group of escorts to the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, testing its response and interoperability capacity.
