Nevsky Shipyard of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has launched a medium sea tanker of project 23130 “Alexey Shein”, which is being built for the Russian Navy. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“Today, at the USC Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant, the project 23130 medium sea tanker Alexei Shein, which is being built for the Navy, was launched. The launch ceremony was attended by representatives of the Main Command of the Navy, the Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant of the USC and guests of honor,” the department said.

They said that the medium sea tanker of project 23130 is capable of transferring and receiving liquid cargo at sea, as well as receiving, transporting and transferring dry cargo. It can refuel three ships at the same time, coming from it at a distance of 50 to 100 m. The tanker corresponds to the Arc 4 ice class category and has the ability to independently navigate in rarefied one-year Arctic ice with a thickness of up to 0.8 m.

The third serial tanker is named after the first Russian generalissimo Alexei Semenovich Shein (1652 – 1700), an associate of Peter I. He participated in the Crimean and Azov campaigns of the Russian army, in the construction of the first sea harbor in Taganrog, was the commander-in-chief of the army and the head of the Inozemsky department.
