At the Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant ( enters the Joint Shipbuilding Corporation ), the launch of the middle sea tanker « Vasily Nikitin » took place.

The new vessel will become the second ( the first serial ) medium-sized marine tanker of the project, which has no analogues in the Russian Federation. Construction is carried out in accordance with a state contract for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The tanker is designed to receive, store, transport and transfer various liquid cargoes for the fleet: fuel oil, diesel fuel, motor oil, aviation kerosene, fresh water. It is also possible to transport dry goods, including various technical and skipper property, food. The vessel is able to transfer and accept liquid cargo without mooring to another motor ship, as well as to receive, store, transport and transfer dry goods using a system of traverse transfer of goods to the sea.

The functional capabilities of the tanker will allow him to produce fuel simultaneously to three vessels going from it at a distance of 50 to 100 meters on board or in a kilvater way.

The tankers of this project are the largest vessels that have ever been launched in the history of the Nevsky GCC, which is 110 years old.
