The Secretariat of the Navy reports that a working meeting was held in January at the facilities of the National Port System Administration (Asipona) of Manzanillo, which was attended by Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, Secretary of the Navy and High Command of the Mexican Navy; Indira Vizcaíno Silva, governor of the state of Colima; and Admiral ret. Mario Alberto Gasque Peña, Director of the Asipona of Manzanillo, discussed various topics concerning the expansion project of the New Manzanillo Cuyutlán Port.

The governor of Colima and the head of SEMAR supervised the start of the dredging works for phase 1 of this strategic project, with the first two of a total of six machines that will work simultaneously.

The development of the Puerto Nuevo Manzanillo Cuyutlán is an ambitious project that seeks to expand port capacities and strengthen logistics in the region, specializing in the handling of containers and hydrocarbons and consolidating current activity in the San Pedrito Enclosure with the movement of containerized cargo, agricultural and mineral bulk, general cargo, vehicles, perishables and cruise ships.

Within the lines of action for the development of the Puerto Nuevo Manzanillo Cuyutlán, dredging and relocation works of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) are considered; likewise, in collaboration with the Government of the State of Colima, infrastructure works of bridges, roads, hydraulic works, as well as the adaptation and improvement of the tourist cruise ship dock, for the benefit of the population of this entity.

During the first stage, maintenance dredging works are carried out in the navigation channel of Laguna Cuyutlán, which are a core part of the development of this port, since the construction of navigation channels and maneuvering docks are the initial activities of the project.

Currently, the port of Manzanillo is the most dynamic in Mexico per square meter, in movement of containerized and commercial cargo, being the number one port nationwide and third place in Latin America, continuing with a positive trend, with a view to positioning itself as the number one port in Latin America.

In this way, the Navy reaffirms its commitment to national port development, for the benefit of the citizens of the state of Colima and with the aim of connecting Mexico with the world.

Indira Vizcaíno Silva acknowledged the support of the Government of Mexico headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum and the work of the Navy, which are key to the development of the state of Colima and the port of Manzanillo, within the framework of this tour that Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales made this Wednesday through the entity.
