Frigate ‘Méndez Núñez’ (F-104) returned to her base at the Ferrol Military Arsenal last Monday, October 13, after completing a nearly six-month deployment integrated into the British HMS ‘Prince of Wales’ Battle Group, as part of the multinational Operation ‘Highmast’. Under the command of Cdr. Jaime Muñoz-Delgado Pérez, the ship traveled more than 38,000 nautical miles, visited 12 countries, and participated in maneuvers with several allied navies and strategic partners in the Indo-Pacific region.

For Commander Muñoz-Delgado, the mission was a professional and personal milestone. “We return home proud of having accomplished our mission and having demonstrated the capability and reliability of the ‘Méndez Núñez’,” he declared upon arriving at Ferrol.

Throughout her deployment, the frigate has participated in many naval exercises, diplomatic port-calls, and supported international maritime security missions.

This operation has reinforced the commitment of Spain and the Armada to international maritime security, while underscoring the full operational capability and interoperability of its naval assets. The integration of the frigate ‘Méndez Núñez’ into this Battle Group also served to demonstrate Spain’s technological self-sufficiency and forward-looking capabilities of our Armed Forces.
