As part of securing the Indonesian Archipelago Sea Lane (ALKI) III which is the main task and function of the Indonesian Navy, KRI Madidihang-855 commanded by Major (P) Steven Reginald Louhenapessy carried out a Passing Exercise (PASSEX) with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) warship JS NOSHIRO-3 (FFM-3), which is a Mogami Class Frigate, in ALKI III Waters. Tuesday (25/2/2025).
In this exercise, the two warships carried out various training procedures, including the Parade Role, Passing Exercise, Flashing Exercise, and Flaghoist Exercise.
JS NOSHIRO-3 crossed the Banda Sea arriving in the context of Innocent Passage, which is a peaceful passage when crossing the territory of another country, in this case Indonesian Waters. The Japanese warship departed from Sasebo Port, Japan for Darwin Port, Australia.
This activity aims to be a form of respect and security for foreign warships crossing Indonesian waters, as well as to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan, especially in the field of maritime defense and security.
After completing the training and security, KRI Madidihang-855 continued its voyage to the Indonesian territorial sea security sector in the eastern region.
