In order to improve the capabilities and professionalism of soldiers in the field, KRI Mandau-621 which is under the ranks of the Fast Ship Unit (Satkat) of Koarmada II carried out a Tactical Cooperation Exercise (Kersamtis) with sea and air elements of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) in the waters of the Indonesia-Malaysia border, Wednesday (15/10/2025).
This exercise involved the marine elements of KRI Mandau-621 and KRI Tongkol-813 from the Satrol Kodaeral VII Kupang, as well as the air elements of the Indonesian Air Force Boeing 737-200 aircraft (Pesud) from Squadron 5 Hasanuddin Makassar. The activity is part of the Marine Security Operation for the 2025 Fiscal Year which focuses on the waters of Tarakan and Unarang Reef.
Some of the training materials carried out include CommCheck, Air Joining Procedure, and Indonesia-Malaysia Border Patrol, which aims to test communication readiness, cross-dimensional coordination, and improve interoperability between sea and air elements in supporting joint operations in border areas.
Through the implementation of this Kersamtis Exercise, it is hoped that there will be a solid synergy between the Indonesian Navy and the Indonesian Air Force, so that joint operations in the future can run more effectively, coordinated, and be able to provide a deterrent effect against any potential violations in the waters of national jurisdiction.
