To support the Natural Disaster Emergency Management Support Operation in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, KRI Makassar-590 arrived at Jetty III of Pelindo Kotabaru Port, Stagen Village, North Sea Island District, Kotabaru Regency, to conduct the embarkation of heavy equipment assistance. Tuesday (6/1/2026).
The Commander of the Kotabaru Lanal, Lt. Col. (P) M. Harun Al Rasyid, S.T., M.Tr.Opsla, when welcoming the arrival of the ship, said that the KRI Makassar-590 is the second warship to dock in Kotabaru to support the acceleration of post-flood disaster recovery in Aceh. “The Indonesian Navy will continue to be present to provide real benefits in supporting humanitarian tasks, especially for people affected by disasters,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Commander of KRI Makassar-590 Lieutenant Colonel (P) Farid Ardiansyah, M.Tr.Opsla explained that the Landing Platform Dock (LPD) type warship docked at Lanal Kotabaru to carry out the embarkation of heavy equipment assistance in the form of excavators and dump trucks from PT Jhonlin Group. The aid will be sent to flood-affected areas in Aceh to accelerate infrastructure and environmental recovery.
On a separate occasion, Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali emphasized that the presence of the TNI Navy in handling natural disasters is part of the TNI Navy’s commitment to carrying out the duties of Military Operations Other than War (OMSP).
The Indonesian Navy is always ready and present to help the government and the community in every emergency condition, especially during natural disasters. The use of KRI as a means of logistical support and aid distribution is expected to accelerate the recovery process of affected areas.
