Five regions in Maluku Province became the destination of the Sovereign Rupiah Expedition / ERB held by Bank Indonesia (BI) in collaboration with the Indonesian Navy using KRI dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo-991 belonging to Koarmada III, and on the 4th day of the voyage, the Sovereign Rupiah Expedition / ERB team arrived in Dobo, Aru Islands Regency, Maluku to facilitate the exchange of money not fit for circulation (damaged, shabby or torn) for the local community. Monday (04/09/23).

This activity is expected to maintain the availability of decent and sufficient money in Maluku Province so that it can support the Maluku economy, maintain Indonesian sovereignty by ensuring the distribution and use of Rupiah currency has been evenly distributed throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

It seemed enthusiastic that the people of Dobo, Aru Islands Regency flocked to the Cenderawasih Hall to exchange their unworthy rupiah bills to officers from the Sovereign Rupiah Expedition team.

It was also seen that Navy Soldiers carried out escorts, swiftly and kindly directed the public to money changers served by officers from BI, in addition to the delivery of social assistance and health services for people in need on the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo-991 Hospital Ship as a form of government attention and concern through BI and the Navy.

The Sovereign Rupiah Expedition using KRI dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo-991 is an appointment from the Commander of Koarmada III TNI Rear Admiral Rachmad Jayadi to follow up on the order of the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral Muhammad Ali in supporting Bank Indonesia’s Mobile Cash service activities in the Front, Outermost, and Remote (3T) islands in Maluku Province and its surroundings.

The cruise using the Koarmada III warship in distributing rupiah currency is planned to last for 7 days since departing from Tawiri Pier, Ambon City on Friday, September 1, 2023, and will stop at several remote, outermost and foremost islands including Banda Island, Kei Island, Dobo, Larat Island and Adaut.

Separately, Pangkoarmada III said that this activity was in line with Kasal’s direction to continue to benefit and help the difficulties of the community, for that Koarmada III is ready to support and succeed the Government Program in accelerating development and improving the economy in the foremost, outermost and remote areas, concluded the Commander.
