The Indonesian Navy element, namely KRI Bontang-907, is a tanker ship currently docked at Kolinlamil, preparing to sail to Sibolga carrying 2,000 kiloliters of fuel. Sunday (7/12/2025). The deployment of this tanker warship belonging to the Indonesian Navy aims to support the fulfillment of fuel needs for the Alpalhankam elements and the community affected by the disaster in the Sumatra region.
In addition to carrying 2,000 kiloliters of fuel, KRI Bontang-907 also transports logistical needs such as tens of tons of basic necessities, clothes, medicines and other primary needs needed by the community.
“KRI Bontang, a tanker warship carrying 2000 kiloliters of diesel fuel, is currently in the process of loading fuel to be distributed to the affected areas. As soon as the filling is complete, it will be immediately departed.” This was conveyed by the Head of the Naval Information Department, First Admiral TNI Tunggul in Jakarta.
The presence of this Tanker Ship is very functional in supporting the availability of fuel in disaster-affected locations where road access is cut off and cannot be traversed by land routes.
To date, a number of Indonesian Navy elements that are on standby in the Sumatra Region have succeeded in distributing logistics and community needs. Of the Warships, two of them are Hospital Aid Ships, namely KRI dr. Soeharso-990 which is positioned on the East Coast of Sumatra and KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat – 992, positioned on the West Coast.
“To date, the Indonesian Navy has deployed 14 KRI of various types, for air power there are 7 namely 5 Helicopters and 2 CN Aircraft. In addition, the Indonesian Navy has put the Marine Health Battalion and Regional Commands on standby in disaster-affected locations, namely Kodaeral I and Kodaeral II. The involvement of Indonesian Navy personnel to date is 3,452 Personnel,” said the Head of the Naval Information Service.
