The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) issued the following statement:
1. The ship owned by TLDM which is the Royal Ship (KD) PENDEKAR has completely sunk at the position of 2 nautical stones in the Southeast of Tanjung Penyusop, Johor at 3.54 this afternoon. Efforts to save the ship through salvage operations are still underway.
2. The quick efforts of the maritime community have managed to save all the KD PENDEKAR crew of 39 people before the ship was completely submerged. No injuries were reported. They are now in a safe condition and placed at KD SULTAN ISMAIL, Tanjung Pengelih, Johor. TLDM assets are placed at the scene to monitor the current situation and environmental safety.
3. The public is advised not to disseminate information of illegal incidents. Latest developments will be informed through official TLDM sources.
