The 2nd Surface Unit of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024 (IPD24), JS ARIAKE conducted a Japan-Canada bilateral exercise (KAEDEX24) with Royal Canadian Navy HMCS VANCOUVER in the West Pacific.
The Commander of Escort Flotilla 3, RADM YOKOTA Kazushi, who led the Japanese unit, said, “We improved our tactical capabilities and strengthen cooperation with Royal Canadian Navy. Canada is Japan’s special partner for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” and we are glad to conduct the exercise with Royal Canadian Navy. We will continue to bolster partnerships with allied and like-minded countries’ forces and ensure the maritime order to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
