After a visit to Côte d’Ivoire, Brazil and French Guiana, the Jeanne d’Arc group continued its mission in the Caribbean Sea. For a few days, it joined the surveillance frigate (FS) Germinal and the Antilles-Guyane patrol boat (PAG) La Combattante of the Armed Forces in the Antilles (FAA). This reinforcement of the Task group made it possible to carry out several air-sea maneuvers, including an exercise of evolution at sea (EVOLEX), and to optimize interoperability and patrol capabilities in the Antilles zone.
On April 4, two Gazelle helicopters and a Cougar from the Army Light Aviation Detachment (ALAT) as well as the Dauphin from the Naval Aviation Flotilla Detachment (34F) present on the PHA carried out a formation flight around the amphibious group in the Caribbean Sea.
The Jeanne d’Arc group then joined Guadeloupe, where the soldiers of its embarked tactical group (GTE) had the opportunity to train during a population assistance exercise on the Port-Louis slipway. They proceeded to unload cargo (water, food, basic necessities) and resources necessary to support a population affected by a natural disaster.
This presence of the Jeanne d’Arc group in the Antilles zone has thus made it possible to extend the action of the FAA in their sector and to strengthen the capacities of the French armies to intervene quickly in the event of a natural disaster within the framework of the HADR ( Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief ) system.
The FAA regularly conducts training and exercises in the area, alone and with its partners, to maintain its intervention capabilities at all times and in all places for interoperability between maritime, air, and land forces.
