Personnel from the 4th Marine Infantry Battalion, under the Southern Marine Infantry Brigade, together with members of the Security Company of the Ushuaia Naval Base, trained together with surface units of the Southern Patrol Division (DVPA), in the waters and coasts of the Beagle Channel.
On behalf of the DVPA, the ARA “Indómita” speedboat participated; the patrol boats ARA “Concepción del Uruguay”, ARA “Baradero”, ARA “Barranqueras” and ARA “Clorinda”, to which was added the ocean patrol boat ARA “Contraalmirante Cordero”, of the Maritime Patrol Division, stationed as a station ship in Ushuaia to cover Search and Rescue at Sea (SAR) watch.
During the exercise, Marines disembarked to conduct both day and night reconnaissance of the area as part of offensive procedures, while surface units provided support for amphibious operations. Likewise, in their retreat to the capital of Tierra del Fuego, the units were trained in tactical maneuvers.
This type of integrated training between infantry and surface units contributes to optimizing the operational and response capabilities planned for the defense of the southernmost region of the Argentine Republic.
