The Indonesian Navy and the Russian Navy will hold the 2024 Orruda Joint Exercise (Latma) which is planned to be held in the Surabaya II Fleet area from November 4 to 8, 2024.
Latma Orruda 2024 is a bilateral agenda between the Indonesian Navy and the Russian Navy where this exercise is the first joint exercise or the first time held between the Indonesian Navy and the Russian Navy.
Latma Orruda 2024 is the result of an agreement at the first Navy to Navy Talks (NTNT) meeting in 2018 between the Indonesian Navy and the Russian Navy. The name Orruda is a combination of the national symbols of the two countries, namely Orel (Russian Eagle) and Garuda (Indonesia).
This joint exercise itself is a War Military Operation (OMP) exercise which is divided into 2 phases, namely the Harbor Phase and the Sea Phase. The equipment that will be deployed by the Indonesian Navy in Latma Orruda 2024 includes KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai-332, KRI Frans Kaisiepo-368, and helicopters.
Meanwhile, the Russian Navy will field warships such as RFS Soversheny, RFS Gromky and RFS Aldar Tsydenzhapov, as well as Medium Tanker Ship, KA-27 Helicopter and Tug Salvage Alatau.
On a separate occasion, the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali conveyed to all ranks of the Indonesian Navy to always give their best in every task entrusted to them, as well as carefully prepare for the joint exercise that will be held with friendly countries so that it runs as planned.
