Led by the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal), Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali, Commander of Fleet Command II (Pangkoarmada II), Rear Admiral TNI Ariantyo Condrowibowo, accompanied by the Regional Chairperson of Jalasenastri Fleet II, Mrs. Dian Ariantyo Condrowibowo, attended the inauguration ceremony of two PC 60 type warships, namely KRI Hampala-880 and KRI Lumba-Lumba-881 which took place at the KBT Sunda Kelapa Pier, Jakarta on Tuesday (17/12).

During the ceremony, Kasal who was accompanied by the General Chairperson of Jalasenastri, Mrs. Fera Muhammad Ali, also confirmed the commanders for the two new ships. Major (P) Hariz Sandy Wibowo was confirmed as the commander of KRI Hampala-880, while Lieutenant Colonel (P) Guntur Prastyawan was appointed as the commander of KRI Lumba-Lumba-881.

KRI Hampala-880 will strengthen the Patrol Boat Unit of Lantamal XI Merauke under Koarmada III, while KRI Lumba-Lumba-881 will join the Patrol Boat Unit of Lantamal XIII Tarakan under Koarmada II. The presence of these two PC 60 ships is needed because of the contingency in the region, especially in dealing with the urgent escalation of crimes at sea.

This PC 60 warship is the result of production by a domestic shipyard, PT. Caputra Mitra Sejati, with superior technical specifications. This ship is 61.20 meters long, 8.50 meters wide, and can travel at a maximum speed of 24 knots. Its armament includes a 40 mm Marlin Ilos cannon and two 12.7 mm Pindad submachine guns.

With the ability to carry out law enforcement missions, infiltration, exfiltration, and SAR operations, KRI Hampala-880 and KRI Lumba-Lumba-881 are expected to become the mainstay of the Indonesian Navy’s defense equipment. The technical excellence and agility of these two ships make them ready to face various operational challenges in diverse maritime terrains.
