The joint exercise (Latma) Cassowary Exercise (AS) 2024 between the Indonesian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) was officially closed on board the RAN Warship, HMAS Broome 90, during a cruise in the Indian Ocean on Sunday (28/07).

Right in the training area in the waters bordering the sea between Australia and Indonesia, the closing was marked by an exchange of souvenirs by the Commander of KRI Dorang-874 as the Commander of the Latma Cassoex 2024 Task Force, Major Laut (P) Hermes R. Simanjuntak with the Commander of HMAS Broome 90, LCDR Christopher Wardle during the Mail Bag Transfer exercise between the two ships involved in the exercise.

The Task Force Commander said that several series of exercises had been carried out at Latma Cassoex 2024 this time, namely Living Harbor, Tactical Maneuvers, Boarding Exercise (Boardex), Replenishment at Sea (RAS), the Role of Fire Fighting on Ships and Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS).

This exercise is expected to continue in the future to improve the professionalism of TNI AL and RAN soldiers, as well as to establish good cooperation, especially in handling violations in the border waters of Australia and Indonesia.

Latma Cassoex 2024 is an implementation of the order of the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali to continue to improve the operational readiness of Defense Equipment, develop superior TNI AL human resources to answer multi-dimensional tasks in the future and be able to carry out diplomatic roles in the international arena.
