On Saturday 02 September 2023, in the context of the wider planning of the HNDGS regarding international cooperation, joint training was conducted between the Armed Forces (ED) and the US Aircraft Carrier USS GERALD R. FORD (GRF), in an area south of Crete.
The F/A-18E/F organic aircraft of the US GRF aircraft participated in the joint training. The Hellenic Armed Forces participated with the Aircraft EMB-145H Airborne Early Warning & Control System (ASEPE).
The joint training is a continuation of the recent collaborations of the Hellenic Armed Forces with the Aircraft Carrier USS GERALD R. FORD (GRF) of the USA, in the context of the presence of Carrier Strike Group 12 (CSG-12), to which GRF belongs, in the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the continuous presence of Greek Naval Units as an escort of the US Aircraft Carrier Strike Force during their voyage to Eastern Mediterranean.
During the event, complex operational aircraft control objects were implemented in air combat scenarios that contributed to the promotion of the level of operational readiness, combat capability and cooperation of participants in a bilateral and inter-allied context.
