From Saturday 05 to Tuesday 08 August 2023, and in the context of the wider planning of the HNDGS regarding international cooperation, the Armed Forces (ED) participated in the US Armed Forces Exercise under the name “SAGE WOLVERINE 23”, which takes place from Wednesday 02 to Friday 11 August 2023 in the wider sea area of the Ionian Sea.
The Exercise was attended by the US Aircraft Carrier USS GERALD R. FORD (GRF) with its organic aircraft and escort ships, as well as personnel and assets of the United Kingdom Armed Forces.
The Hellenic Armed Forces participated in the Exercise as follows:
● With 16 sorties of F-16 fighter aircraft.
● With the frigate (P/G) ELLI in the context of its participation in the Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG2).
During the co-training, the following complex business scenarios were implemented:
● Air Defence Exercise (ADEX).
● Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT).
● Offensive Counter Air (OCA).
● Defensive Counter Air (DCA).
The participation of the Armed Forces in “SAGE WOLVERINE 23” contributed to the promotion of the level of operational readiness and combat capability as well as to the upgrading of the multilevel military synergy of the Armed Forces in a bilateral and inter-allied framework.
