The fourth edition of the Gabian mutual training took place in the Mediterranean exercise area from November 24 to 28, 2025.

Several units took part in the exercise, including the Jacques Chevallier supply ship, the Lorraine multi-mission frigate with enhanced air defense capabilities, the Loire metropolitan rescue and assistance vessel, and the Achéron mine clearance diving support ship.

For training purposes, these ships benefited from the presence at sea of other units such as the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, the air defense frigate Chevalier Paul, the newest frigate, the defense, and intervention frigate Amiral Ronarc’h, and a Suffren-class submarine. Frigate Forbin, which served as the Officer in Tactical Command (OTC) for this exercise, took the opportunity to continue its operational readiness training in preparation for an upcoming deployment.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the crews successfully conducted various exercises, both day and night, including surface and anti-submarine warfare maneuvers, gunnery practice, aviation maneuvers, and disaster response exercises. A replenishment at sea under threat was also conducted with the Jacques Chevallier and the Chevalier Paul. Furthermore, the Forbin performed one of the first towing operations of the FDI Amiral Ronarc’h, marking a significant milestone in the integration of this new vessel.

Combining surface, underwater and air operations, this exercise confirmed the operational excellence of the units involved, capable of operating in a coordinated and reactive manner in varied conditions.
