Having left Cherbourg on September 16, 2025, the public service patrol vessel (PSP) Pluvier was deployed in the Atlantic to carry out fishing inspections for two weeks.
This mission represents a change of environment for crew A, frequently deployed on lifesaving missions (LSV) in Pas-de-Calais.
To carry it out, the vessel received assistance from a non-commissioned officer from the maritime gendarmerie. Indeed, the inspections were carried out thanks to the skills and experience of a fisheries inspector from the Brest coastal surveillance brigade. The Pluvier ‘s A crew benefited from his expertise and thus became more familiar with the professional fishing environment.

In close collaboration with the National Fisheries Surveillance Centre (CNSP) , the Pluvier carried out six inspections on the high seas, which were difficult to carry out by other fisheries police actors. Targeting the vessels to be inspected according to the area, the art practiced or even the recurrence of the infractions helped ensure the coherence of the mission. Three findings of infractions were noted against the captains on this mission, leading to preventive actions and reminders of the law.
The joint action of the Pluvier and the maritime gendarmerie made this mission a success for the State’s action at sea within the framework of fisheries policing.
