ARA Indomita, belonging to the Southern Patrol Division based in Ushuaia, carried out the relief of material and personnel at the Maritime Traffic Surveillance and Control Posts of Isla de los Estados and Bahía Buen Suceso.
The unit set sail from the Augusto Lasserre military dock at the Ushuaia Naval Base bound for Isla de los Estados, arriving at Puerto Parry last Wednesday morning. There, the relief took place at the “Comandante Luis Piedra Buena” Naval Station.
The ship then headed to Buen Suceso Bay to transfer personnel and material to the Buen Suceso Maritime Transit and Control Station, located on the Mitre Peninsula of Tierra del Fuego.
Smaller vessels transported the materials and supplies necessary for the operation of the posts.
The personnel that will remain at both sites were also disembarked and the outgoing crew was embarked. Once these activities were concluded, ARA Indomita boat began its return to Ushuaia.
It is worth mentioning that these operations provide the Unit’s crew with the opportunity to train in navigation in restricted waters and maneuvers with smaller vessels in southern waters, strengthening their operational capacity through specific training.
