The ships of the Navy participating in the 65th edition of the multinational exercise Unitas, set sail from the sheltered dock in the city of Valparaíso to carry out the planned training in each of the areas of operations.

Following the opening ceremony, held on the ARCH amphibious ship “Sargento Aldea”, and the coordination meetings of the different components, the Task Forces positioned themselves to begin each phase of the exercise.

During the operational phase of Unitas, from 5 to 11 September, air, naval and land operations will be carried out to establish common procedures, and then operate against a simulated threat, going through opportunity incidents based on situations that may occur today.

24 countries, 17 ships, 2 submarines and 23 aircraft will participate in this period, operating together under multiple scenarios and near the coasts of Coquimbo, Valparaíso and Punta Arenas.

During its stay at the dock, the destroyer ARA “Sarandí” received official visits; among them the Argentine Ambassador to the Republic of Chile, Jorge Faurie; the Consul General in Valparaíso, Sebastián Molteni; the Naval Attaché of the Argentine Republic in Chile, Captain Carlos Pedro Schavinsky Trinchero, and authorities of the Chilean Navy.

Primary and secondary schools from Valparaíso were also present, along with Argentines who live in that city and in Viña del Mar.
