This year’s Quadriga 2025 exercise series, led by the German Navy, has come to a successful conclusion. Over the past two months, various sub-exercises have impressively demonstrated that the Bundeswehr and its multinational partners are determined and fully capable of defending the Alliance’s territory in all dimensions. NATO’s mission of deterrence and defense is being fully fulfilled.
“Quadriga 2025 covered the entire spectrum, from alerting at home bases to deployments by land, sea, and air for full-force exercises on NATO’s eastern flank. With exercises like Quadriga, we are increasing the Bundeswehr’s military readiness and strengthening national defense and resilience. That is deterrence,” summarizes the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, General Carsten Breuer.
The Role2Sea sub-exercise demonstrated the capabilities of the Sea Rescue Center aboard the task force support ship “Frankfurt am Main.” The Navy and the Medical Service trained together to ensure the seamless operation of the rescue chain from sea to land.
The tactical planning and execution of maritime operations in coastal areas was the focus of the Northern Coasts sub-exercise . The German Navy, in cooperation with NATO partners, successfully protected the transport routes in the Baltic Sea and demonstrated its ability to defend them against potential aggressors. The German Navy was supported by airborne weapon systems from the German Air Force ( Air Mag Day ).
The deployment of personnel and material, the rapid establishment of operational readiness at the target location and the logistical sustainability of a military operation were the main focuses for the 37th Panzergrenadier Brigade and participating support forces during the Grand Eagle sub-exercise in Lithuania.
In addition, the Brave Blue and Safety Fuel exercises tested and further developed key supply processes. These ranged from the establishment of a continuous logistics network in Lithuania for the supply of ammunition, spare parts, and operating materials to the operation of a modular field fuel depot and water treatment plant.
During the Silver Dagger sub-exercise , special forces practiced tactical operations on land, in the air, and at sea with partners from other nations.
The National Guardian sub-exercise consolidated national deployment processes. The focus was on the mobility of forces and equipment via road, rail, air, and sea.
The integration of drone defense into all sub-exercises increased the individual safety of soldiers. The Bundeswehr thus demonstrated its technological initiative and future viability at Quadriga.
