In June the Royal Swedish Navy and Coast Guard participated in the JEF activity Nordic Warden, which through an increased presence of ships at sea contributes to the protection of critical underwater infrastructure.

JEF, Joint Expeditionary Force, is a defense cooperation between ten countries led by the United Kingdom. It will be possible to set up a rapid reaction force that can act independently or within the framework of a UN, NATO or EU operation in the event of a crisis with a focus on northern Europe.

The Nordic Warden began on 3 June, where the nations of JEF take turns reinforcing the patrols of the Baltic Sea region. This week, Sweden participates through the Navy and the Coast Guard with a presence both in the Baltic Sea and on the West Coast. With the help of ships and fixed sensors, a sea situation picture is built that provides information about what is moving out at sea. This situational picture is shared between all participating nations and authorities.

In December 2023, a similar activity was carried out for the protection of critical underwater infrastructure.
