The Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Mark Hammond, AO, RAN, opened the Navy’s gangways and bases February 24th, proudly launching Navy Week for 2024.
Over the next seven days, events will be held in every Australian state and territory.
The Navy will celebrate its tradition and heritage through ceremonial sunsets, fleet base open days and a range of community events with our people, their families and naval capabilities in focus.
The week will conclude on 1 March with the Navy celebrating its 123rd birthday.
The Australian community and billions of people around the world rely on the strength and protection that navies provide both above and below the sea – the natural resources and goods transported on the oceans, the seabed cables that connect our modern world. In this context and with the evolution of maritime capabilities and technologies it has never been a more exciting time to serve in the Royal Australian Navy.
