Referring to the proposal of Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, the hospital auxiliary ship owned by the Indonesian Navy is ready to carry out a noble task to Palestine. Indonesia has a number of hospital auxiliary ships, some of which are made by PT PAL Indonesia.

The conflict in Palestine has drawn the world’s attention to sending support and aid. Indonesia as one of the countries that fully supports Palestinian independence, took part in sending aid in the form of Hospital Auxiliary Ships (BRS). Assistance in the form of health facilities is urgently needed because medical personnel and health facilities in Palestine have also been devastated by military aggression carried out by Israel.

Currently, Indonesia has 3 Indonesian Hospital Ships, namely KRI dr. Soeharso-990, KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo-991 and KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992. Two KRI with hull numbers 991 and 992 are purely the work of the Indonesian people from design to production carried out by PT PAL Indonesia.

BRS KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo-991 and KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992 are the results of the development of Landing Platform Dock (LPD) type warships where the mastery of this product is the success of PT PAL personnel through the transfer of technology (ToT) with South Korean shipyard companies. The LPD ship built before the Hospital Auxiliary ship was LPD KRI Semarang-594, which was later converted into a hospital auxiliary ship at that time to help the medical team support health facilities during the Covid-19 pandemic.
