Last Sunday (15), the Catrimani II Joint Command activated the Component Naval Force (FNC), which is under the coordination of the Brazilian Navy (MB), expanding its operations in the fight against illegal mining in the Yanomami Indigenous Land, in Roraima. The mobilization reinforces river patrols in the region, with a focus on protecting the Amazon and indigenous communities.

Naval assets in operation

The FNC began its participation with the use of important resources from the Amazon Flotilla Command, including the River Patrol Ship (NPaFlu) “Roraima”, which returns to the state after 15 years. The NPaFlu “Roraima” will later be replaced by the NPaFlu “Amapá”, ensuring the continuity of actions in the region. Also participating in the operation is the Hospital Assistance Ship (NAsH) “Carlos Chagas”, which will offer medical and dental care to riverside and indigenous populations.

The ships operate on the Catrimani River, carrying out patrol missions to intercept vessels used in illegal mining activity, hinder the logistics of criminal groups, and intensify the presence of the Armed Forces in one of the most sensitive areas of the Amazon.

As part of the ground reinforcement, a Marine Combat Group from the 1st Riverine Operations Battalion, headquartered in Manaus (AM), will arrive in Roraima on June 19th, transported by a KC-390 aircraft from the Brazilian Air Force. Service members will carry out river and land patrols, as part of the Joint Command’s efforts.

Five decades of history: 50 years of NPaFlu Roraima

In addition to fulfilling its operational mission in the Amazon, NPaFlu “Roraima” celebrates 50 years of incorporation into MB. The ship’s trajectory was honored on Monday morning (17), in a solemn session held at the Legislative Assembly of Roraima (ALE-RR).

During the ceremony, the “Living History of Roraima” commendation was presented to the Commander of the 9th Naval District, Vice Admiral João Alberto de Araújo Lampert, in recognition of the services provided by the ship in the defense, integration and support to the populations of the Amazon over five decades.

The event, held in the Deputy Noêmia Bastos Amazonas plenary, was attended by civil and military authorities, in addition to a joint presentation by MB bands and the Military Police of Roraima.

At the ceremony, a preview of the documentary in production by TV Assembleia was shown, which follows the last mission of NPaFlu “Roraima”.
