On September 13, the Brazilian Navy began supporting the Regional Federal Court of the 3rd Region (TRF3) in implementing the Itinerant Riverine Federal Special Court (JEF) project, which provides citizenship services to riverside communities in the Pantanal region of Mato Grosso do Sul.
For seven days, the River Transport Vessel “Almirante Leverger” and the Hospital Assistance Vessel “Tenente Maximiano” will transport more than 70 federal, state and municipal employees, as well as students, to three communities located along the Paraguay River, in the municipality of Corumbá (MS).

Among the services that will be offered are the issuance of ID and CPF, urban, rural and disability retirements, as well as sickness benefits, maternity pay, welfare benefits, closed season insurance and survivor’s pension.
During the opening ceremony, held on September 12th at the Mato Grosso Flotilla Command, Federal Judge Monique Marchioli Leite, Director of the project and the Mato Grosso do Sul Judicial Section Forum, highlighted the importance of cooperation between institutions: “This initiative is only possible with the participation of institutions, which come together to bring citizenship to places it otherwise cannot reach. This synergy exemplifies what the Brazilian State can achieve when it works in an integrated, efficient, and empathetic manner. This initiative is more than a judicial service; it is a network of institutional solidarity that transforms people’s lives,” she emphasized in her speech.
The Commander of the 6th Naval District, Rear Admiral Alexandre Amendoeira Nunes, highlighted the impact of the initiative on the communities served: “This action is especially significant for a portion of the population of Mato Grosso do Sul who face challenges arising from the distance and isolation of their communities. Supporting the Itinerant Justice is more than providing essential services; it is reaffirming the Brazilian Navy’s commitment to inclusion, equity, and the promotion of social justice.”
The event was attended by the president of the Federal Regional Court of the 3rd Region, Federal Judge Carlos Muta; the Vice-Mayor of Corumbá, Beatriz Rosália Ribeiro Cavassa de Oliveira; State Judge Alan Robson de Souza Gonçalves; and representatives of the bodies participating in the project.
