The Marinha do Brasil (Brazilian Navy) have been leading CTF 151 since September 2025, and have achieved significant advances in counter-piracy deterrence by strengthening multinational cooperation and operating with a diverse staff composed of personnel from more than ten nations.
The biggest highlight of their tenure has been the conducting of Focused Operation Mare Liberum V, which united 15 countries, 11 naval units, nine air assets and seven maritime information sharing centers, significantly enhancing domain awareness and interoperability along key shipping routes through coordinated patrols and integrated communications.
CTF 151 also played a pivotal role in the response to the piracy attack against MT Hellas Aphrodite, facilitating the rapid flow of information between a Japanese maritime patrol aircraft, EUNAVFOR’s flagship ESPS Victoria and regional centers, ensuring the safety of the crew and the disruption of the pirate group.
Throughout the year, the Task Force intensified combined exercises with partner nations and expanded its Key Leader Engagements and maritime security training initiatives, strengthening readiness, interoperability, and confidence across the wider maritime community.
