Navy and Embraer sign cooperation agreement in the area of TechnologyDuring the 7th IDB Exhibition By Lieutenant Captain (T) Bruno Braga Britto de Oliveira – Brasília, DFOn Tuesday (6), during the 7th IDB Brazil Exhibition, in Brasilia, the Brazilian Navy (MB), through the Directorate General for Nuclear and Technological Development of the Navy (DGDNTM), and Embraer advanced in this sphere by signing the Technical Cooperation Agreement (ACT) for Research, Development and Innovation aiming at the study and analysis of radar systems and interfering tools for employment in operations (Electronic Countermeasures – CME), representing an important strategic milestone in the field of national Defense and Technology.

The nationalization of marine and marine equipment is one of the main tasks of the Science, Technology and Innovation Sector of the Brazilian Navy. Working to develop independent technologies for Defense products and cooperate to strengthen the Defense Industrial Base (IDB) is one of the priorities.

“Both institutions have recognized competencies and projects in the areas of the agreement and will collaboratively study sustainable national solutions that meet their demands, guided by the search for development in order to obtain knowledge, scientific, technological and innovation services, in an autoctonic way,” said Admiral Petronio Augusto Siqueira de Aguiar, Director General of Nuclear and Technological Development of the Navy.

The agreement between the two institutions contributes to the provisions of the National Defense Strategy, especially with regard to national technological development, and aims to identify the degree of technological and industrial maturity of radar systems.

The ACT in question aims to analyze, from the technical and operational points of view, the current levels of technological maturity of radar systems developed by the participants, in order to seek their evolutions and future productions of such equipment, which represent the increase of the operational capacity of the Naval Force with high national technological content.

Strengthening the Industrial Defense Base The studies that will be carried out jointly between the IDB and the Scientific, Technological Institutions (ICT) of MB will analyze the levels of development of the mentioned Systems, in addition to the possibility of their operations integrated with Combat Systems or Command and Control Systems.

Thus, the initiative is considered strategic for the country’s defense area, as it represents an opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge already acquired in previous projects and to contribute to the prospection and national industrial promotion.
