Maritime Patrol Vessel BAP Rio Locumba, successfully completed its first operational patrol, on the northern coast of the country, the arrival ceremony was presided over by the Commander General of the Navy, accompanied by the Director General and the Executive Director of the General Directorate of Captaincies and Coast Guard.

The naval unit set sail from the Port of Callao on January 7 of this year, accumulating a total of 151 days of operation and 3,680 nautical miles sailed during the fulfillment of its mission.

Among the main actions carried out is its participation in Operation “Mar de Grau”, which allowed the capture and seizure of approximately 2,500 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, contributing significantly to the fight against illicit drug trafficking

In addition, during maritime control and surveillance operations, five Ecuadorian-flagged vessels carrying out fishing activities in Peruvian jurisdictional waters were intercepted and captured, as well as three national fishing vessels involved in illegal trawling activities. As part of the actions aimed at complying with current maritime regulations, seventy-nine notices of infringement were imposed on various vessels that failed to comply with the provisions established by the National Maritime Authority.

Similarly, the BAP”RÍO LOCUMBA” successfully participated in a search and rescue operation, carried out in coordination with the Captaincy of the Port of Zorritos, managing to safeguard the lives of five people.

The Peruvian Navy, as the National Maritime Authority, continues to deploy its naval units throughout the national maritime domain to guarantee security, order and the protection of hydrobiological resources, contributing to the development and well-being of the country.
