On June 16th, The Secretariat of the Navy, through the Mexican Navy, announced ARM Usumacinta (A-412) set sail from the port of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, which will continue the Instruction Cruise “Consolidation of the Independence of Mexico 2025”, with 171 cadets of the Heroic Naval Military School, who will carry out their naval practices and training on board.
This departure ceremony was held at the dock of the Sixteenth Flotilla of Surface Units and was presided over by Vice Admiral Carlos Jiménez Leal, Commander of the Tenth Naval Region, who was accompanied by naval authorities.
On this voyage, they will visit the ports of Manzanillo, Colima; Mazatlán, Sinaloa; Guaymas, and Puerto Peñasco, Sonora; Topolobampo, Sinaloa; La Paz and Ensenada, Baja California; Puerto Cortés and Los Cabos, Baja California Sur; Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco; and Acapulco, Guerrero.
During his participation, Vice Admiral Jiménez Leal urged the crew to guide the new generations with knowledge and teachings. “We must continue our journey and the commitment we have made to our nation.”
When taking the floor, the Commander of the ARM “Usumacinta” (A-412), addressed the young cadets, whom he encouraged to discover their potential as future Officers of the Mexican Navy.
It is important to mention that the ARM “Usumacinta” (A-412), has represented Mexico in multinational exercises such as “RIMPAC 2018” and participated in humanitarian aid missions, such as the shipment of 1,500 tons of food and medicine to India after the 2005 tsunami, reaffirming the commitment of the Mexican Navy to international cooperation and assistance to communities in emergency situations.
It should be noted that, in this Instruction Cruise “Consolidation of the Independence of Mexico 2025”, which commemorates the historic action in which the Mexican Navy consolidated national independence by expelling the last Spanish stronghold of Mexican territory, thus marking the beginning of a new era for the nation from the sea, in addition to the 171 cadets, eight officers and one captain.
In this way, the Secretariat of the Navy, through the Mexican Navy, seeks to strengthen the comprehensive training of future naval officers and exalt the seafaring spirit, with the sole mission of Serving Mexico.
