In order to enhance the naval training of future non-commissioned officers of the Colombian Navy, the ARC Barranquilla Naval School of Non-Commissioned Officers and the General Maritime Directorate, embarked 14 cabin boys of the electronic and maritime traffic control specialties, on the oceanographic research vessel “ARC Simón Bolívar” in order to strengthen their skills. skills and knowledge under the experience of scientists and researchers who will be part of the X Antarctic Expedition 2023-2024.
The oceanographic research vessel “ARC Simón Bolívar” will arrive in the city of Barranquilla this Tuesday, October 31 at 08:00 a.m., where it will open its doors free of charge to the public from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on November 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., so that they can learn about the capabilities of the Colombian Navy in science and technology. which will lead Colombian researchers to carry out hydrological, oceanographic and geophysical studies on the white continent.
The X Antarctic Expedition 2023-2024 is led by the General Maritime Directorate of Colombia (DIMAR), the Colombian Ocean Commission (CCO) and the Colombian Antarctic Program (PAC), with the mission of exploring the white continent by enhancing research on climate change, biodiversity, marine biology, and other topics of interest.
The Colombian Navy, through the Naval School of Non-Commissioned Officers “ARC Barranquilla”, will continue with its commitment to train the best sailors in the world, enhancing academic competencies and practical skills, under the guidelines of science, innovation and technology.
