ARA Libertad moored at the Punta Torrecillas dock October 21 at the Sans Souci Naval Apostille of the Dominican Republic Navy.
Commanded by Captain Roberto Ariel Gestoso, the Argentine Navy Training Ship made 21 salutes at the time of passing the breakwater at the entrance to the Ozama River in Santo Domingo, capital of this Caribbean country.
At the foot of the pier they were received by the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to the Dominican Republic, Sandra Winkler, who was accompanied by the Deputy Commander General of the Navy of the Dominican Republic, Rear Admiral Anthony Manuel Tadeo Jiminian Objio, and the Music Band of the 27 de Febrero Naval Base.
After the welcome ceremony, the Commander of the frigate was received by the Commander General of the Navy of the Dominican Republic, Vice Admiral Juan Bienvenido Crisóstomo Martínez, who was very moved by the presence of the “Libertad”, since his son made the Instruction Trip there, after studying at the Naval Military Academy of the Argentine Navy in the framework of an exchange.
During the stay of the Training Ship in the Dominican capital, it is expected that the Midshipmen in Commission and crew will participate in an act in tribute to the ARA cruiser “9 de Julio”, a symbol of Argentine recognition of the independence and sovereignty of that Caribbean country; visit the General Command of the Navy; take a tour of the Naval Academy “Vice Admiral César Augusto de Windt Lavandier”; and get to know the colonial city.
