The unit, which participated in the Unitas LXVI exercise in the United States of America, was received by the Chief of the General Staff of the Navy, Admiral Carlos María Allievi, naval authorities and family members of the crew.
Puerto Belgrano – This afternoon, the destroyer ARA “La Argentina” entered the dock at the Puerto Belgrano Naval Base. The unit, under the command of Commander Juan Cruz Granja, returned after participating in the multinational operation Unitas LXVI, which took place in the United States of America.
At the “Captain Sergio Gómez Roca” Parade Ground of the Argentine Navy, the destroyer’s crew was received by the Chief of the General Staff of the Navy, Admiral Carlos María Allievi; the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Argentine Navy, Vice Admiral Marcelo Ricardo Flamini; and the Commander of Training and Readiness of the Navy, Rear Admiral Gustavo Fabián Lioi Pombo. The ceremony was also attended by senior Navy officials, military and civilian personnel stationed in the area, family members, and special guests.
After mooring, the authorities boarded the gangway to participate in a brief ceremony on the flight deck. There, the words of the Chief of the General Staff of the Navy, as stated in the official arrival document, were read aloud, recognizing the work carried out by the personnel during the multinational operation. Following this, the crew disembarked to reunite with their loved ones after more than 80 days at sea.
In this context, Captain Daniel Eduardo Giudici, Commander of the Destroyer Division and the Argentine Navy Task Group during the exercise, stated: “We return with the satisfaction of having been part of the most important combined naval operation on our continent. For us, it represented professional enrichment and the opportunity to strengthen ties with navies from different parts of the world . ”
Furthermore, he emphasized that the entire crew and support staff can be proud of having successfully completed the assigned mission. “The personnel consistently demonstrated an attitude marked by effort, dedication, and commitment. They have represented our national flag on other seas ,” stressed Captain Giudici.
Between September 15 and October 6, multi-threat exercises were conducted with ships, aircraft, submarines, Marine Corps troops, special forces, robotic technology and autonomous assets from different countries; these activities took place off the coast of the United States.
The Task Force was made up of ships from the navies of Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Panama and Peru.
The crew of the Argentine ship shared experiences on board with exchange personnel from the navies of Germany, Spain, Peru and the Coast Guard of Belize, who observed the operations from the destroyer.
The multinational exercise was conducted to strengthen interoperability with other countries, share experiences, and refine procedures for maritime crises, operating under international standards. It also facilitated the adoption of common communication protocols, tactical procedures, and command structures, essential for effective combined missions.
The destroyer ARA “La Argentina” traveled more than 3000 miles carrying out anti-submarine training activities, naval firing against towed targets, anti-aircraft and anti-surface defense exercises, refueling at sea, maneuvers with aircraft, simulated evacuation of the wounded and medical assistance.
